What a great idea! We’re loving these versatile garden harvest baskets, the “Garden Colander” by Hutzler. I thought something like this would be useful, so searched and found a couple garden colander options.
Summer means daily harvesting of garden goodies. There are many different kinds of receptacles to use for gathering fresh produce.
Veggies tossed in a shirt pocket (later to find beans in the washing machine), to a garden apron or hat, to boxes, grocery bags or wheelbarrows. Just about anything will work and we’ve pretty much used them all… still do.
A gardener’s motto could almost be that the best tool is whatever is at hand, because gardeners are great at making do with whatever’s available.

However… a gardener also knows that good tools can make easier work of things and that’s what we’re sharing here.
2-in-1 Produce Basket and Colander in One
While gardeners are great at making do with whatever is on hand, some things are more convenient than others. So we’re sharing our favorite garden harvest basket colander.
Garden Harvest Baskets
We’re using the garden colander harvest baskets to carry any supplies out to the garden with us. Once there, we’re using it for when we harvest salad greens, herbs and vegetables.
More than a garden basket, this is also a colander! Now, instead of hauling vegetables inside and placing them in a colander or sink to rinse, we have a garden basket and colander all in one.
It’s a perfect size for most garden goodies and easy to handle. There’s a full sized one for larger harvests and vegetables and a mini version for lighter fare such as small harvests and quick trips out to snip herbs. It’s also good for the more delicate cherry and grape tomatoes that you don’t want to get squashed under the squash.
We’ve been using these garden harvest baskets for years seasons now, with just about every trip to the garden.

We also like that the Garden Colander harvest basket is easy to hold with one hand and slip onto your arm, leaving both hands free to continue harvesting garden goodies.

Another Cool Garden Basket
For some harvests, such as larger vegetables, and especially those root veggies that need a lot more rinsing, you might try this TubTrug Colander and 20 gallon tub from Gardener’s Supply, or from Amazon. The two together are a gardener’s best friend, year round, and especially during harvesting.
For curing and storing your precious garden harvests, there are a number of well-reviewed vegetable storage racks to choose from.
What we’re using is our Indoor Greenhouse garden. It has turned out to be great for so much more than seed starts! We’re using it for growing microgreens, especially in winter, then in harvest season, we’re using it as a vegetable storage rack.
See what you think and let us know what you’re using. You can join the conversation and comment on the Gardens All Facebook page. But if you need a new garden basket, you might try from some of these garden colander options.
